What to Expect on the Day of the Exam

Food & Beverage

Though patients are free to eat and drink normally, caffeinated beverages should be limited on exam day.

Makeup

Female patients are advised to refrain from wearing eye shadow or mascara.

Clothing & Accessories

You'll be asked to remove all jewelery and any metal objects you may be wearing before the scan.

Time Frame

An MRI scan lasts 30 to 45 minutes.

Tapping

Rapid tapping will be audible from inside the scanner. Since this can be bothersome, you will be offered earplugs.

Post MRI

Immediately following your MRI, you are free to resume normal activities.
